Conference on Rino Gaetano
Focus on one of the most innovative, interesting and brilliant artists in the Italian musical history, the singer and songwriter Rino Gaetano, from his beginnings to his untimely death, within the historical, political and social context of Italy in the 1960s and 1970s (Red Brigades, election of Pope Wojtyla, Moro murder, Sindona case, censorship, etc.).
An in-depth analysis of his poetics (nonsense, satire, poetry, etc.) and his artistic and musical path, including inspirations, influences, potential and legacy, of an artist who was sometimes erroneously considered as an author of “light” works of art.
An in-depth analysis of some of his most innovative, original and experimental lyrics of his artistic production, with parallels between Gaetano and Majakovsky, Ionesco, Prévert, Pavese, Gaber, Petrolini and Rodari.
An in-depth analysis of his main themes, such as emigration, the Southern question, marginalisation, the suburbs, corruption of the political class, industrial alienation and social injustice, together with more intimate themes like love and loneliness.
