The Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat, the Italian Embassy in the Kingdom of Morocco, the CIDM, Italian National Music Committee in collaboration with the Al Akhawayn University have the pleasure to invite you to the Concert Julien KAINRATH, violon – Giorgio LAZZARI, piano as part of the second Edition of « Young Italian Musical Talents in the World 2025 » Festival.
Winner of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) Discovery Award in 2022 at the age of 16, Julian Kainrath regularly performs both as a soloist and recitalist. Born in Merano, Italy, he started his violin studies at the age of six and has been given public performance since he was ten years old. Announcing the ICMA’s Discovery Award the President of the Jury Remy Franck said: “our winners are the expression of the highest artistry”. Julian’s appearance under conductor Adam Fischer with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra at the Luxembourg Philharmonie was highly praised by critics: “In the second program item, the audience was treated to a particularly outstanding performance. The 16-year-old violinist Julian Kainrath from Merano, winner of the Discovery Award, not only gave a brilliant rendition of the Introduction and Rondo capriccioso by Camille Saint-Saens, but also, despite his young age, knew how to give this work a very personal interpretation, after which one can hope for much more to come from this true artist”. During the 2023/2024 season, Julian performed recitals and concerts with orchestra in Italy, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, and the US. Of particular note was his debut in Venice, at the Sale Apollinee of the Teatro La Fenice, the performance ofsolo Sonatas and Partitas by Bach at the Ristori Baroque Festival in Verona, his debut with the Leverkusen Sinfonia in Germany, his debut with the Orchestra dell’Università degli Studi in Milano, his recitals at the Società del Quartetto di Bergamo, at the Amici della Musica in Padova, at the Austrian Cultural Center in Washington DC, and at the Festival Jeunes Talents in Cannes. In addition, he performed at the Festival Suoni a Ledro, at the Sala delle Colonne of the Leonardo da Vinci Museum in Milano, in Trieste with the Ferruccio Busoni Orchestra, and at the Ehrbar Saal in Vienna. Summer festivals in July and August 2024 saw him performing at the Engadine Festival in St. Moritz, at the Althafen Stiftung in Berlin and at the Tonadico Festival in Italy. The 2022/2023 season saw the young violinist performing concerts in Schwarzenberg at the Angelika- Kauffmann-Hall in Austria, at the Scala Theater Museum in Milan, at the Teatro Ristori in Verona with ‘I virtuosi Italiani’, at the Bergerac Festival in France, and in Bern, Marseille, Munich and Liechtenstein. Past seasons Julian was invited to play in many venues in Italy, including the Settimane Musicali of
Merano, the Società dei Concerti in Milano, the Mattinate Musi cali Internazionali of Trieste, the Camerata Ducale in Vercelli, the Festival Bolzano Bo zen with the Streicherakademie Bozen. Julian appearances included recitals with pianists Till Fellner and Louis Lortie. The recital at the BA Classica Festival in Busto Arsizio with great pianist Louis Lortie was of great importance in Julian’s musical growth – “the concert provided moments of sublime music thanks to the synergy of the two performers which deeply affected the audience in the hall” the critics wrote. Louis Lortie has since become an important mentor and point of reference.
During the pandemic in 2020 Julian was invited by the Konzerthaus Wien to perform on their online concert series “Konzertzuhaus”. Joining renowned pianist Till Fellner, Julian performed a Beethoven Violin Sonata to celebrate Beethoven’s year. Soon after they were invited to perform an entire recital in Appiano, Italy.
In 2019 Julian was selected as “student in residence” at the 26th Verbier Festival, where he played concerts and attended masterclasses of renowned violinists as Pamela Frank, Donald Weilerstein and Kristof Barati. In Verbier Julian met violinist Marc Bouchkov, and since then he has been his greatest inspiration and mentor.
In 2021 and 2022 Julian was selected to be part of violinist Ilya Gringolts’ class at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy, and had the opportunity to perform with Gringolts a recital dedicated to Steve Reich. In August he performed at the Sommerakademie Schloss Heiligenberg under the guidance of Marc Bouchkov and was awarded with a prize for his performance.Julian had his first appearance as a
soloist with orchestra in South America (Bolivia) in 2015, at the age of 10, in 2016 he was invited by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine to play in Kiev. At 13, he toured with the Chamber Orchestra Innstrumenti.
Among others, he played at the Haus der Musik in Innsbruck and at the Kursaal in Merano, earning enthusiastic reviews (“the young South Tyrolean has such an organic connection to his instrument, and such a stupendous technique and musicality”, “the palms were due to the 13-year-old Julian Kainrath, who confidently performed Sarasate’s gypsy airs …so much came over his instrument!”, “he runs with bravura over the variations, and was greeted with thunderous applause”). In addition Julian played at the Festival Arsonore in Graz, at the concert series “Young Excellence in Concert” in Salzburg, played a recital in Bressanone, Italy, and participated in a RAI TV broadcast playing works by Paganini and Bartok.
Julian only took part in one violin competition when he was ten-year-old, the Austrian competition for young musicians “Prima la Musica”, where he was awarded 1st prize. From age of eight to twelve he studied violin with Prof. Dora Schwarzberg. At the age of thirteen, he was admitted to Prof. Boris Kuschnir’s class at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria. Since 2023 he is a student of Marc Bouchkov at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège in Belgium. Julian is a scholarship holder of the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein.
Twenty four – year old pianist Giorgio Lazzari – top prize winner at International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn and Robert Schumann Competition Düsseldorf – has already performed, both as soloist and with orchestra, in many Italian and European venues, being appreciated especially in his interpretation of the German and Austrian classics, as well as in chamber music.
He has extensively performed for renowned festivals, such as Klavier Festival Ruhr, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Schumannfest Düsseldorf, Beethovenfest Bonn, Festival d’Aix en Provence, Bonner Schumannfest, Vaduz Classic, Società Filarmonica di Trento, Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo, Milano Musica, Amici della Musica di Padova, Kirchheimbolanden Festival, GIA
Brescia, Musica Insieme Bologna, Teatro Ponchielli di Cremona, Trame Sonore and Harmonies en Livradois.
Besides his soloist career, Giorgio is a devoted chamber music performer, particularly in duo with violinist Sofia Manvati, with whom founded the Duo Rodin. Giorgio’s interest in chamber music repertoire has also been enriched by taking part in the Résidence de
Music de Chambre at the 2023 Festival d’Aix en Provence, where he had the opportunity to play alongside musicians such as Kirill Gerstein and Stefan Dohr. Very interested in the contemporary repertoire, he had the chance to work with composers such as Stefano Gervasoni, Alessandro Solbiati and Olivier Cuendet, focusing on their solo and chamber music production.
He also performed Solbiati’s Corde e Martelletti at its premiere for Trame Sonore Festival 2019 (Mantova) Born in 2000, Giorgio completed his studies at Conservatorio Gaetano Donizetti in Bergamo – under the guidance of Maria Grazia Bellocchio – and he is now attending Kirill Gerstein and Jonathan Aner’s classes, at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik in Berlin.
Giorgio is a scholarship holder from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein – where he studied with Pavel Gililov, Claudio Martínez Mehner and Marc Bouchkov; recently he was also honoured with the Roscini – Padalino Award, by Perugia Musica Classica.
